Pacifism is usually defined in negative terms. It is usually seen as not using warfare or violence. But that view is approaches the issue from the wrong angle. Once the easy answer of force is off the table, what you’re left with is everything else. So, for example, if you heard about a Neo-Nazi rally going on nearby, you might want the police to shut it down. But if that’s off the table, people think of ideas like this.

Local media reported that the neo-Nazis were outnumbered by about a five-to-one ratio. The clowns shouted “white flour,” while others came with signs reading “wife power.”
